A video strategy is the first step in a long-term plan for video management and creation. Often, video content strategy needs are heaviest during onboarding for new clients as we work to cleanup and optimize any existing video content. Video and YouTube optimization covers the time spent improving existing video content and your channel overall to ensure that it continues to perform optimally. All video content benefits from regular optimization, regardless of the state it was in upon publication. After this initial phase, an ongoing video content strategy is developed in order to ensure the creation of effective videos that align with your business goals.

Video strategy and management efforts can include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of specific strategies on YouTube and on your website
  • Youtube SEO for existing videos and your channel overall to ensure that it continues to perform optimally
  • YouTube-specific keyword research and topic planning
  • Video content calendar creation
  • Editing footage provided by the client
  • Design, publication and optimization of final videos
  • Meetings and consultation with the client

1. Discovery & Editorial Style Guides
If you don’t have existing style/messaging guidelines for us to follow, our video strategy processes will begin with a messaging questionnaire. Tailored questions give us an idea of your company’s voice and personality, who we’re creating for (who your customers are), and other details that will help shape your videos and make them as effective and authentic as possible.

2. Video Optimization
Before we start creating new videos, we want to take a look at any existing video content you have on your YouTube channel or website. We will optimize this content so it can perform at it’s best relevant to the platform it lives on.

3. Video Audit, Gap Analysis and Keyword Research
A video audit enables us to see what type of video content on your site is performing well and what needs some work. We will perform a gap analysis to determine what topics are currently missing from your channel or site. We will also perform video-specific keyword research and compile a list of keywords that will inform the new video titles that you’ll film.

3. Video Content Calendar
All of the insights we’ve gathered up until this point will help us form a plan for historical optimization (if necessary) and inform the new topics we plan for your video content calendar. The length of your video content calendar will depend on the length of your signed contract. For ongoing monthly video retainers, we plan video content calendars at the beginning of each quarter. You will have the chance to review your video content calendar and make suggestions/changes before filming any of the video topics.

4. Filming Your Videos
Unique to video content, collaboration is required between you and our team. You will be responsible for filming or providing footage for the videos we outline in your calendar. This is an opportunity for your audience to get to know you and your business. Along with the topic guidance, we can also offer technical support and consultation during this part of the process.

5. Video Editing
Once you provide footage to our team, we get to work on editing that footage into a finished final video. Depending on your plan, this could also include social media edits of the same content. One round of revisions is included in an edit.

6. Video Publication, Design & Optimization
We then upload the final video to YouTube or your website depending on your specific video plan. This part of the process could include but is not limited to:

  • Any design work for the video, from thumbnails to header images
  • SEO on titles, descriptions, tags, closed captions, links, cards, end screens and more
  • Blog creation and publication to promote the video (if you have an existing content retainer or have paid for a one-time content project)
  • Videos typically have a limit of two client revision rounds during editing – additional revisions are discussed on a case by case basis.
  • For continuing monthly video retainers, a portion of your retainer will go toward content strategy at the beginning/end of each quarter to allow time to plan editorial calendar topics and as necessary.
  • Optimization services cover content optimization of existing work and as described in the scope of work section of this agreement.
  • The work that our video content team performs is limited to the amount of hours you purchased.
  • Different videos require different amounts of work to optimize. Therefore we cannot guarantee the completion of a specific number of pieces within your allocated time but rather will work with you on a case by case basis to set expectations.
  • Access must be granted to relevant sites like Youtube or the backend of your website before work can begin.

*Note: This process requires collaboration from the client when it comes to filming and gathering actual footage related to their business. Our team can provide content guidance, technical support and consultation during this part of the process
